Possibility to hold Delphian Games-2013 in Bashkiria to be under consideration

International Delphian Games-2013 can be held in Ufa and such possibility was discussed during the meeting of the President RB Rustem Khamitov with delegation of Russian Federation UNESCO Commission.

Director of international Delphian committee Vladimir Ponyavin has told the first modern Delphian Games have taken place in 2000. Since then 12 youth Delphian Games have taken place in the country with participation of sports teams from 83 Russian regions.

“The team of your Republic takes part in such Games from the very first time, always holding leading positions” – Vladimir Ponyavin said – “We can hold regular national games in Ufa either before Student Games in Kazan or after. Delphian Games can be open – 65 countries take part in this movement now”.

“In 2013 we intend to hold many interesting actions in the Republic but I think that Delphian Games can become solid contribution to general mosaic of 2013” – Rustem Khamitov expressed his opinion.

Final decision concerning this problem will be reached the next week.

The problem concerning promotion of the natural-cultural center “Shulgan-Tash” (Capova Cave) was also under consideration in the course of this meeting. This monument of nature is already included into the preliminary list of UNESCO World Heritage.

“Though the list is just preliminary, it has serious status and imposes certain obligations on Russian Federation as well as on the Republic” – the secretary of Russian UNESCO Commission Gregory Ordjonikidze said – “The work in this direction already runs and in this connection we’d like to open a chair for world heritage here”.

At the end of the meeting the protocol of intentions between Bashkortostan, Russian UNESCO Commission, Russian World Heritage and UNESCO chair for preservation of architectural and town-planning monuments in the region was signed.
