Students of Bashkiria prefer economics, jurisprudence and IT
About 153 thousand students study at higher education institutions RB this school year. Bashkortostan holds the ninth place in Volga federal district by the number of students per 10 thousand people.
Almost 90% of students study at state institutes of Bashkiria: 136,5 thousand against 16,5, studying at commercial education institutions.
In 2012 four school-leavers pretended to one vacant place on average. At that the competition for budget places was 2,4 times higher.
Students study in 70 directions and by 227 specialties. Economics and jurisprudence still stand on the top of the rating of the most popular specialties; IT and power engineering go after. More girls study at humanitarian institutes (76%) and more boys – at technical ones (65%).
99,4% of students are citizens of Russia. There are just slightly more than one thousand foreigners at Bashkir institutes and citizens of Kazakhstan make up more than a half of them – 647 students. Natives of Turkmenistan stand on the second position – 119 people. Citizens of Vietnam dominate in the list of students from foreign countries – 89 people; 60 students from China, 33 – from Yemen, 22 – from India and 19 – from Angola, Bashkir State Statistics Committee reported.
