International Family Day is marked in Bashkiria

May 15 is the International Family Day. It is marked since 1993. The United Nations Organization General Assembly established this holiday in order to turn public attention of different countries to numerous problems of this “cell” of the society. For citizens of Bashkortostan this holiday has special meaning because 2012 is announced the Year of happy childhood and family values in accordance with the decree of the President RB Rustem Khamitov.

The rise of public interest in the institute of family is really important in present circumstances. Though the state regularly launches new programs for support of families (such as motherhood capital, housing preferences, support of families with many kids and many others), the situation still leaves much to be desired.

At the same time Bashkir authorities always paid great attention to support of families, motherhood and childhood. Social sphere remains one of the top priorities in state policy in our Republic. Thus, families, having five and more kids, may figure on special housing certificates. Such certificates are given since 2009 and thanks to that 90 families with many kids have managed to improve their living conditions. Families, adopting children, receive special regional motherhood capital. Families, having children, suffering various diseases, receive ground areas free etc.

The work for protection of children’s rights and interests is also found under special control and in the first turn it concerns the kids, found in difficult situation and the kids, staying in asylums and children’s homes. Certain positive changes are observed in this direction too: socially unhappy families receive material assistance; authorities help such families in liquidation of their debts for housing and communal services etc. Children-orphans are supplied with housing. The number of such kids has grown 3,4 times, as compared with 2009 (430 kids have received housing in 2011). Volumes of financing are increased almost 5 times (about 370 million rubles in 2011).

Bashkir parliamentarians also make their bit in overcoming of existing problems. They have already introduced several offers on perfection of the legislation, regulating situation in families.
