Production of horse milk in Bashkiria is increased three times
Bashkortostan is considered the biggest center of horse breeding and horse milk production in Russia. For the last three years production of horse milk was increased three times, amounting to 2,8 thousand tons in 2011. The lion’s share of Russian horse milk (kumis) is produced only in Bashkortostan (80%). At the same time Ministry for agriculture RB reports that Bashkortostan is quite able to produce much more of this healing drink.
“We use just 12% of the available potential” – the first deputy Minister for agriculture RB Azat Ziganshin mentioned during the meeting re production of kumis and kumis-treatment, held in Ministry for agriculture – “We have good prospects in this direction”.
Medical institutions face high demand in kumis. Healing properties of this drink are long ago confirmed by medics. The time of medical treatment is substantially shortened, when suing kumis. Kumis-treatment has no contra-indications and can be equally successfully used in treatment of children and adults. The experience of Bashkir medics in this direction is considered the most progressive in Russia. Kumis-producers and medics are unanimous in the opinion that production of kumis for its use at medical institutions should be enlarged several times.
