The Day of Russian Science
Russian scientific community is celebrating its professional holiday today – the Day of Russian Science. The Russian Academy of Sciences was established by Peter the Great in the country on February 8, 1724 (January 28 according to the old style). In 1925 it had been renamed into the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and in 1991 –again into the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Day of Russian Science was set on June 7, 1999, with celebration date on February 8 in accordance with the presidential decree.
At present time the Ufa Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences works in Bashkortostan. It unites 13 institutes and the Academy of Sciences RB. The Day of Russian Science is accompanied by the series of actions in our Republic. Thus, solemn ceremony of presentation of grants to young scientists and scientific groups will be held by the Government RB today. Methodological seminars will be held at the Bashkir Academy of public service and management under the President RB, where the most actual scientific-practical problems of social-humanitarian knowledge and modern designs in sphere of political science, sociology, management, psychology, jurisprudence and economics are under discussion. The Day of Russian Science will be celebrated at the Bashkir State Pedagogical University too. The First scientific-practical conference “Ferin’s Readings” will take place at the Ufa lyceum N60, initiated by JSC “UMPO” and by the Ufa scientific-informational center of Ufa Education Dept. This is the complex of children’s scientific-enlightener actions, called to attract pupils to science, and reports of well-known scientists, veterans of labor, “UMPO” workers and engineers, excursions to “UMPO” museum and other actions are planned within its frames.
