Zugura Rakhmatullina: “Bashkortostan is interesting as a poly-confessional and poly-ethnic region of Russia”

The deputy Prime-Minister of the Government RB, the chairman of the Committee on UNESCO affairs RB Zugura Rakhmatullina has told about work of the UNESCO executive council’s 186th session in Paris to the journalists of “Bashinform” and BST. The Vice-Premier has taken part in the session in the staff of the Russian delegation.

“Cooperation with UNESCO positions Republic of Bashkortostan as a Russian region on the international arena and maximally presents its cultural, scientific and human potential” – she said.

She considers the meeting with the chairman of UNESCO executive council Eleanor Mitrofanova — the second VIP-person in this organization – as one of the visit’s real successes. Eleanor Mitrofanova many times said about productive participation RB in UNESCO educational projects.

At present time there are about 50 actively working associated UNESCO schools in the Republic, including 13, having the corresponding Paris certificate. Not long ago the chair at the Bashkir Institute of social technologies has joined the UNESCO chair at the Bashkir State University. The Bashkir State Pedagogical University also intends to join UNESCO chair.

The UNESCO proposal concerning opening the chair, specializing in ecological themes, is discussed at present time.

“Taking the experience of Bashkortostan in this sphere into account, this question acquires special actuality in connection with the growing attention to ecological problems” – Eleanor Mitrofanova said.

The inclusion of some positions into the list of UNESCO world cultural heritage was also under discussion. In particular, the Bashkir epos “Ural-Batyr” can be included into this list as a non-material heritage object. The reserve “Shulgan-Tash” is actively discussed in the nomination “Natural landscape”.

As soon as Bashkortostan is interesting as a poly-confessional and poly-ethnic Russian region, the cooperation of the Republic within the frames of the joint UNESCO and TURKSOY project on celebration of the international festival “Nauruz” can become also promising.

Besides, the participation of UNESCO envoys in the international educational and cultural projects on the territory RB is also scheduled and it can be regarded as one of the channels for Republic’s entering the international level as a Russian region in opinion of Zugura Rakhmatullina.
