President of Bashkortostan carries on an open dialogue with public community

The conference “Open Authority, Open Society, Open Mass-Media” has taken place in Ufa on April 28 with participation of the President RB Rustem Khamitov, political leaders and leaders of public organizations.

The appeal of public community to the President RB on actuality of transparency in politics has become a formal ground for this meeting.

“It is important for me that the politics of openness and transparency in authority finds support in public community” – the President RB said, opening the meeting – “Openness of the authority isn’t just a fine wrapping but practically the only possible condition for preservation of the system’s activity”.

“Preventing the circulation of ideas is the same as to bite the hand that feeds you” – Rustem Khamitov mentioned – “And confirmation of this fact can be easily found in our own recent history. The Soviet Union possessed much, good and bad, but one thing was absent – the variety of ideas and this variety is the source of development and I am sure that uniformity is hopeless”.

The President RB has marked the necessity of criticism and declared against artificial separation of the society into loyal part and opposition.

“I can say that the majority of our opposition is quite positive people, whom we have to interact with” – Rustem Khamitov mentioned – “Thus, the lion’s share of their comments in the blogs is aimed at the improvement of the situation in the Republic. Democratic society, where the authority serves people, is our final goal”.

In completion of the meeting the President RB has underscored the actuality of open dialogue between authority and population and expressed the intention to continue it.
