Production of “the meat of the future” is presented by Bashkir delegation in Ulyanovsk


The investment project on industrial production of turkey meat in Meleuz on the base of the poultry farm by M. Gafuri was presented today to the participants of the interregional “United Russia” conference “The strategy of social-economic development in Volga region till 2020 – the Program for 2010-2020” in Ulyanovsk.

The member of the State Duma construction and land relations committee Marsel Usupov has acquainted the representatives of 14 regions in the staff of the Volga federal district with the work of the poultry center and with the prospects of its development in the course of the work of the conference’s section, dedicated to development of agriculture.

“The poultry farm by M. Gafuri is considered one of the biggest projects on production of turkey meat in Russia”- he said – “The farm delivers turkey meat both to the towns and regions RB and to other Russian regions – to Tatarstan, Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk, Orenburg and Moscow regions”.

The rapid growth of turkey meat production is recently observed all over the world and it is explained both by the dietetic qualities and profitability of this production. “Thanks to gustatory qualities and profitability the turkey meat is often called the meat of the future” – Marsel Usupov stated.

The USA is considered the biggest producer and consumer of the turkey meat for today. In 2009 its output was more than 3,5 million tons. The share of Russia in the global turkey meat production still makes just 0,66%. At that turkey is bred mainly in the regions of the Southern and the Central federal districts, where the share of turkey poultry farms is 46 and 25% correspondingly. The Volga federal district still produces only 8% of the whole turkey meat output in Russia and the investment project in Meleuz is called to even this disparity. This poultry farm is oriented to the consumers both in the Volga federal district and from Ural and Siberian regions.

“If the Russian structure of turkey meat consumption is brought in conformity with the Western one, the Russian turkey meat market is able to reach 0,6-0,7 million tons – five-six times more than today” – Marsel Usupov believes – “And if we substitute the import of turkey meat, which share reaches 39% in Russia, the amounts of the local production can be increased up to ten times”.

The realization of the project on production of turkey meat in the town of Meleuz is estimated at 4,1 billion rubles and the term of ROI will make about 10 years. At present time about 2,3 billion rubles is already invested to the project and the turkey meat output is about 15,5 thousand tons annually. Other 1,8 billion rubles is needed for launching of the next turn of the production. In 2012 the farm’s capacity has to reach 30 thousand tons.
