547 dairy companies have labeled their products in Chestny Znak system in Bashkiria
547 Bashkir companies working with dairy products, including 65 manufacturers, registered in the Chestny Znak (Honest Brand) system. The republic has become a leader in the Volga Federal District in compulsory labeling of dairy products, the Ministry of Agriculture said, according to the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies.
In total, about 3.9 thousand companies have joined the labeling of dairy products in the Volga Federal District. Manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, and retailers are registered in the system. The Center also named the leaders among the producers of dairy products from Bashkiria in introducing marking codes into circulation. These are Belebeyevsky Dairy Plant and Bashkir Ice Cream.
The labeling of dairy products in the country started on January 20 of this year. Since June 1, labeling has become mandatory for the "ice cream" and "cheese" categories.
From September 1, the second stage of labeling will begin for dairy products with a shelf life of more than 40 days and from December 1 — for goods with a shelf life of less than 40 days. For farmers, labeling will become mandatory from December 1, 2022. Piece-by-piece accounting of dairy products will be introduced from December 1, 2023.
These measures will protect buyers from counterfeit and surrogate products and entrepreneurs from unfair competition. Product and manufacturer information can be obtained by scanning the product through the Chestny Znak application. At the moment, there are 20.8 thousand Russian companies in the system.
