Radiy Khabirov thanked rescuers for saving forests from fires

Politics

In his social media, the Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, thanked the people working to extinguish forest fires: "These are workers of the Ministry of Forestry, fire services, the State Committee for Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, forest services, volunteers. Amid a dry summer, their work, their contribution is especially tangible."

The Head of the Republic said that video cameras of the Lesokhranitel system were installed on television and radio broadcasting towers in the Uchalinsky, Beloretsky, and Burzyansky districts to facilitate their work in hard-to-reach terrain in July. Other methods are used to monitor the situation in Abzelilovsky, Zianchurinsky, and other districts. The data are collected in the State Committee for Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Forestry, Center of Republic's Governance, and municipalities. This makes it possible to detect fires early, reducing the time and costs of their extinguishing.

As of August 4, 247 forest fires with a total area of more than 2.8 thousand hectares were recorded in the republic. For the same period in 2020, there were 118 of them on an area of 3.9 thousand hectares. There are twice as many fires, but the area of each fire is almost three times less. Thanks to the prompt response, 192 fires (80%) were extinguished on the first day. "This means that we work more efficiently," the Head of the Republic stressed. "For my part, I can assure you that the republic will continue to strengthen the technical equipping of the fire squads. We are building new depots, creating a forest fire station in the Uchalinsky district, purchasing specialized equipment, and financing large-scale patrolling of our forest lands. Starting from 2022, we also plan to actively use the new Ka-32A11BC rescue helicopter, which is already being manufactured by the Kumertau aircraft plant, to fight forest fires," Radiy Khabirov stated.
