Radiy Khabirov congratulated foil fencers on their victory at Olympics: "Our first Bashkir Gold"


The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, congratulated the Russian foil fencers on the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. On his Facebook page, the Head of the Region urged the residents of Bashkiria to root for the athletes who have yet to compete for victory in the Games.

"Our first Bashkir gold in the Russian national team at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo! The foil fencer Adelina Zagidullina as part of the Russian national team, won the first Olympic medal !!! Adelina Zagidullina, Larisa Korobeinikova, Inna Deriglazova, Marta Martyanova – this is our golden team. In the final, our girls defeated the French national team with a score of 45:34," the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan posted. "Congratulations to everyone! We will follow the performances of Timur Safin (fencing), Alexander Sergeev (rowing and canoeing), and Varvara Baranova (rowing and canoeing). We will cheer for our athletes!"

As informed by the Bashinform News Agency, Adelina Zagidullina — Olympic champion, two-time world champion (2016, 2019) and Europe (also 2016, 2019) in the team championship, winner and bronze medal holder of the 1st European Games, the Honored Master of Sports of Russia.

Adelina was born in Ufa on January 13, 1993. She began her professional sports career on December 24, 2012, with participation in the all-Russian championship, held in the city of Novogorsk, where she took third place at the end of the tournament.
