Plastic bottle processing plant will be built in Blagoveshchensk

Economy/Business

An essential environmental investment project was presented by the Prime Minister of Bashkiria, Andrei Nazarov. He reported on his social media that a complex for the processing of plastic bottles would appear in the "Blagoveshchensk" PDA (priority development area). The investor company was not named yet.

The plant will be built at the former Biochemical Plant, which went bankrupt in the 90s. The new production will be "ultra-modern and environmentally friendly," the prime minister said. Up to 13 thousand tons of raw materials will be processed per year. It will also produce flex-shredded plastic from which food packaging is made. The implementation of the project will begin this year, and production is scheduled to start in 2028.

"Plastic pollution is becoming one of the most serious environmental problems in the world. The growth in the production of plastic products significantly exceeds the global capabilities for their processing. It is clear that this problem exists in our republic as well. We felt it especially sharply last year when people began to travel massively within the region. Then we received a large number of complaints about garbage, primarily plastic, lying in our natural parks. Then we tried to remove all this quickly, but, in general, it is still obvious that the issue requires a systemic solution. Last year, we repeatedly discussed it with the Head of the Republic. We decided that we urgently needed to develop the modern plastic processing industry, and since last autumn, we have been actively engaged in this," Andrei Nazarov posted.
