Athlete Alsu Minazova assessed her chances for gold medal at Tokyo Olympics
Member of the Russian Olympic team, a native of Bashkiria, Alsu Minazova, prepares for the semi-finals in kayak event. The athlete spoke about it on July 26 during a live broadcast of the briefing "Ufa — Tokyo. Olympics 2020" on the BST TV channel.
"I like the rowing canal in Tokyo. I was there in 2019. Now we are a bit restricted here due to COVID; we cannot leave the Olympic village or go out to the city. In general, I have not seen the city yet," the participant of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in rowing slalom shared. "As for the weather, it is windy now, but tomorrow they promise that a typhoon will reach us. Such force majeure happens; it is not uncommon; I take it calmly, always ready for such situations."
Alsu keeps in touch with relatives and friends, texting through instant messengers and social media, trying to answer everyone.
The athlete is preparing for the semi-finals in a kayak. Before that, she had two attempts in the qualifying round.
"I feel great support from the fans. I see everyone; I try to answer everyone. It is very inspiring," she said.
When asked if there are any chances for a gold medal, Alsu replied that she did not like to predict the outcome of events, but "yes, it's quite possible".
