Ufa Airport welcomed two-millionth passenger
In 2021, Ufa International Airport was the first airport in the Volga Federal District to serve its two millionth passenger. This figure this year was reached a week earlier than in 2019, the press service of the capital's air hub reported.
"Until the end of 2021, the Ufa airport plans to meet its three millionth passenger approximately in November of this year," Denis Nikitin, business development director of the Ufa airport said.
Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that the sharp increase in passenger traffic on interregional air routes is associated with the impact of the pandemic, as well as the policy of developing direct flights between the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, bypassing Moscow, in recent years. In 2017 104 thousand people used such flights from Ufa, then in 2018 — 157 thousand (+ 57% growth).
At the same time, the Ufa airport became one of the first in the country, where the share of flights to other regions bypassing Moscow exceeded 56%. Thus, it was possible to achieve the indicator set by the President of the country in more than 50% of flights operating non-stop in the capital.
In the first half of 2021, 797 thousand people were served on regional flights at Ufa International Airport, including 56 thousand on subsidized routes. This is more than 1.5 times higher than the level of 2019, in the first half of which 506 thousand people flew between the regions, including 50 thousand on subsidized flights.
