Death rate rose to 14.1 cases per thousand inhabitants in Bashkiria during pandemic

At the end of January-May 2021, the death rate in the region was 14.1 cases per thousand inhabitants, the Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Health of Bashkortostan Maxim Zabelin, announced at a “Healthcare Hour” session.

The main causes of death were diseases of the circulatory system, respiratory organs, and neoplasms. One of the key factors affecting the overall indicator was also the coronavirus pandemic, before which the death rate was 12.1 cases per 1000 inhabitants (at the end of 2019).

By the end of 2021, Bashkortostan plans to reduce mortality from various groups of diseases.

“According to experts, now we have hit a plateau in terms of the infection rate with coronavirus, and we see a gradual decrease in mortality. Therefore, by the end of 2021, we hope to see improvements,” Maxim Zabelin said.

Thus, mass vaccination against coronavirus continues in the republic. The region has already received 428,460 doses of Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona, and CoviVac vaccines. As of June 9, 392 282 residents of the republic were vaccinated with the first dose, 306 656 people were vaccinated with the second dose. In the coming days, Bashkortostan will receive another 80 thousand doses of the vaccine.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the region has the potential to increase the rate of vaccination. This is especially important on the eve of such large-scale events as the World Folkloriada, the final of the National Championship "Young Professionals" (Worldskills Russia), and the World Wrestling Junior Championship.

Elena Prochakovskaya, Head of the Social Communications Department of the Head of Bashkortostan, spoke about the citizens' appeals on health care issues. In May 2021, more than 6 thousand requests were received through the "Incident Management" system and the Feedback Platform. The most pressing issues were the shortage of vaccines against COVID-19 and the shortage of specialists in several medical organizations in the republic.

Radiy Khabirov instructed the Ministry of Health of the region, together with the Ministry of Economic Development RB, to submit proposals within a month on the possible including the construction of a new polyclinic in Dema neighborhood in the Republican targeted investment program.

In terms of staffing medical organizations, an influx of young specialists now graduating from educational institutions is expected by the end of summer. In addition, after the completion of the final exams, part of the teaching staff will take part in the work of six "health mobile teams".
