More than 5 million people will take part in United Russia preliminary voting
According to the preliminary results of submitted applications for participation in the preliminary voting of United Russia, for the first time, more than half of the candidates are not wed to a political party. In total, 7,636 applications have been submitted for participation in the procedure throughout the country, said the chairman of the federal organizing committee of the procedure, Senator Alexander Karelin, during a briefing on May 17.
Almost 35% of the preliminary voting participants are young people under 35 years old, and the average age of candidates is 41 years old.
Every third participant in the procedure is a representative of small and medium-sized businesses. Education sphere candidates make 14.5%, municipal employees — almost 10%. Moreover, only every fourth is an acting deputy, and only 4% are deputies of the current convocation of the State Duma.
"More than half — 51.2% — are those who do not associate themselves with the party, are not supporters, but from now on they are ready to consolidate their reputation at the stage of preliminary voting," he added.
In Bashkortostan, 156 people were registered for preliminary voting. The main body of participants comprises people aged 36 to 50 years — 45%; young people also showed activity — 35% of them.
"The youngest participant is barely 21 years old, and the oldest will celebrate his 72nd birthday this year," Rustem Akhmadinurov, head of the regional executive committee of United Russia, said.
Preliminary voting is for the first time conducted electronically throughout the country, and United Russia has fully ensured the legitimacy and security of the procedure.
Voter registration will last until May 28 — 4.8 million people, or almost 5% of the country's voters, have already announced their desire to choose a candidate who will represent United Russia in the elections to the State Duma in September.
The most open procedure will take place from May 24 to May 30. All registered voters will be able to participate in it with verification on the State Services portal. The results will be summed up on June 1. After that, the lists of United Russia candidates for the elections to the State Duma will be approved by congress.
