United Russia primaries will be held online from May 24 to May 30
United Russia has launched a procedure for selecting candidates to form lists for elections to the State Duma and election campaigns at other levels. The procedure will follow the most open first model — all registered voters will be able to vote. This option was supported by the Сhairman of United Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, at a meeting with the secretary of the General Council of the party Andrei Turchak.
Andrei Turchak emphasized that preliminary voting allows selecting the strongest candidates.
Registration of candidates on the preliminary voting site will begin in mid-March. Until April 29, United Russia will accept applications, after which candidates will campaign for a month. The voting itself will take place in electronic form from 24 to May 30. This is not only the safest but also a transparent procedure, Andrei Turchak underlined. Voters will be verified through the State Services portal.
Some regions will also be able to carry out the procedure offline — mainly those where many voters live in the countryside without a stable Internet. To do this, they will need to send a request to the federal organizing committee. In such situations, offline voting will take place only on May 30.
On September 19, in addition to the new convocation of the State Duma deputies, eight governors, deputies of 39 regional legislative assemblies, and 11 administrative centers will be elected. The final list of candidates will be formed at the United Russia congress.
According to Andrei Turchak, it is scheduled for the first half of June. The party's leadership expects that the composition of the candidates may renew by half.
