Nureyev Days will be held in Ufa
The Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater will host "Nureyev Days" from March 17 to 19 dedicated to the birthday of the brilliant dancer and choreographer, our fellow countryman Rudolf Nureyev (1938 — 1993). This year the date will be celebrated with special attention since the Ufa ballet troupe has been awarded the name of Rudolf Nureyev.
As the press secretary of the theater Elena Nikulskaya told the Bashinform News Agency, the "Crane Song" ballet, the "Collection of Masterpieces" concert, and the "Romance with Dance" gala concert will be presented at the theater. The traditional flower-laying ceremony will be held at the artist's bas-relief on the theater building from Pushkin Alley's side.
The "Crane Song" is the first national ballet created by Lev Stepanov, Zagir Ismagilov, and Faizi Gaskarov based on the Bashkir folk legend "Synrau Torna" in 1941. It was staged several times on the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater stage, became its hallmark, and played a special role in Rudolf Nureyev's life. The future legendary dancer at the age of 7, for the first time in his life, came to the theater for this ballet with Zaytuna Nasretdinova. According to memoirs, it was on that evening that Nureyev found his calling admiringly watching the dancers.
The concert "Collection of Masterpieces" combines fragments of the best performances that represent the golden fund of ballet classics. The second part of the concert will feature a fragment of the pearl of the Russian ballet — "Swan Lake" by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
The "Romance with Dance" gala concert will present to the audience the choreographic performances associated with the repertoire of Rudolf Nureyev and dedicated to his life and work.
