Svetlana Khorkina called unique Artistic Gymnastics Center under construction in Ufa
Svetlana Khorkina, a gymnast, two-time Olympic champion in uneven bars, nine-time world champion, and 13-time European champion and vice-president of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation, flew to Ufa for just a few hours. The renowned athlete visited the "Sports and recreation center of the children's and youth gymnastics sports school" under construction in the capital of Bashkiria in Avrora Street.
"This is a unique construction located in the green zone of the city. I hope that soon this sports facility will accommodate its inhabitants, work will be in full swing here, and new stars will be born in Bashkiria," Svetlana Khorkina said in an interview with the Bashinform News Agency.
According to Svetlana Khorkina, the Ufa Artistic Gymnastics Center's uniqueness lies in the fact that it provides hotel rooms, large areas [building area 8 586 m2], two halls, a separate hall for choreography.
The opening of the Artistic Gymnastics Center in Ufa, which was commissioned to build by Russian President Vladimir Putin after the request of a young gymnast from Bashkiria, Daria Krutko, is scheduled for November 2021. Svetlana Khorkina promised to be one of the first to come.
The Head of the Region, Radiy Khabirov, in his post on social media, invited Svetlana Vasilyevna to the opening of the center, which they promise to commission ahead of schedule.
The center's capacity at the intersection of Aurora and Rabkorov Streets will be 165 people per shift during the competition, 140 people – during regular operation. The sports facility includes a specialized gym for 500 seats, a training gym with a foam rubber pit and a choreography hall that can be transformed into a conference hall; buffet for 48 seats; administrative premises; hotel for visiting athletes for 30 rooms; medical premises (treatment room, doctor's office, doping control); showers, changing rooms, toilets, dressing room for a specialized gym. 450 million rubles have been allocated for construction from the federal budget, 329.9 million rubles from the republican budget.
