"Folklore of Bashkortostan Peoples" encyclopedia was published in Ufa
As part of the preparations for the World Folkloriada-2021, the Bashkir Encyclopedia Publishing House has prepared a thematic encyclopedia, "Folklore of the Peoples of Bashkortostan," in Russian and English.
The publication includes more than 600 articles (of which over 150 biographical) characterizing the development, the current state of folklore in the republic. The publication contains over 850 illustrations: photographs, works of art, printed music.
The encyclopedia is divided into two parts. The first presents an overview of the state of folklore and folklore studies in the region, the peculiarities of the national and cultural policy, and Bashkortostan peoples' folklore historiography. The second part includes conceptual and biographical articles arranged in alphabetical order.
The publication contains articles about genres, works, folklore characters, fundamental works, the most famous personalities, researchers and collectors of folklore, folklore groups, scientific, cultural institutions and public organizations, and traditional folk holidays; musical instruments, folklore festivals, and competitions.
The appendices contain lists of famous folk sesens (storytellers), sesen schools, folklore groups of the Republic of Bashkortostan, awarded the title of "national". The book is intended for a wide audience.
Public organizations took an active part in preparing the publication: the Assembly of the Peoples RB, the House of Friendship of the Peoples RB, national-cultural associations, and historical and cultural centers. The group of encyclopedia authors includes more than 60 people. The Center for Intercultural Cooperation LLC translated the publication into English.
