University Consortium of Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center is created in Bashkiria
The Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov held a meeting on the creation of a world-class Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center in the region. It was attended by the Rector of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) Alexander Kuleshov and rectors of leading republican universities.
At the meeting, Radiy Khabirov and Alexander Kuleshov signed an agreement between the Government RB, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, and Bashkortostan's educational organizations on the creation of a Consortium of Universities of the world-class Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center.
The Consortium includes Bashkir State University, Bashkir State Medical University, Ufa State Aviation Technical University, Ufa State Petroleum Technical University, Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The task of the Consortium is to combine efforts, human and infrastructural resources to create technologies and their implementation in the real sector of the economy.
The Government of Bashkortostan and Skoltech also signed an agreement on further cooperation in a wide range of joint work.
Radiy Khabirov thanked the Skoltech team for supporting the republican initiatives, including the creation of the Eurasian Educational Center.
"Interaction with Skoltech allows us to gain access to unique competencies, and most importantly, to attract experts and scientists representing the elite of international science", Radiy Khabirov emphasized.
The Head of Bashkortostan added that one of the Center principles was science, production, and business synergy. Thus, several large industrial companies of the country confirmed their consent to participate in the project. Among them, there are the Rostec State Corporation, the Inter RAO holding, and the Gazprom Group.
Skolkovo University Rector Alexander Kuleshov noted the signed agreement's uniqueness since the university did not have any more projects similar to the new Consortium.
The Skoltech Rector proposed to consider the possibility of increasing the productivity of oil wells in Bashkortostan due to innovative technologies developed by the University's Oil and Gas Center.
The Chief of Staff of the Head of Bashkortostan Alexander Sidyakin also briefed the participants on the Educational Center project's progress. The Center assumes the creation of an ecosystem to develop and support talented youth in the field of science and education, implement comprehensive programs in conjunction with enterprises of the real sector of the economy.
Among the Center priorities are four groups of areas: "Digital and green chemistry, energy", "Biomedicine and genetics", "Advanced production technologies and engineering", "New living environment".
The largest infrastructure solution for the creation of the Center will be an interuniversity student campus for 5 thousand people, which is planned to be built in the Demsky neighborhood of Ufa. There will be dormitories for students, residential buildings for teachers and young scientists, a research building, a testing ground, sports, and medical complexes. There are also plans to connect the campus with the Salavat Yulaev Monument site through a funicular.
The Head of Bashkortostan handed over the Salavat Yulaev Orders to the Rector of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology Alexander Kuleshov and the director of the Skoltech Design, Production Technologies and Materials Center Iskander Akhatov for their significant contribution to the cooperation development with the republic.
