Record number of pneumonia cases per day are reported in Bashkiria
Community-acquired pneumonia cases per day increased by 232 people in Bashkiria, the Ministry of Health of the republic reports. To date, this is a record rate of cases since the beginning of the pandemic. The previous maximum was recorded on October 14 — 216 people.
227 patients recovered from community-acquired pneumonia were discharged per day.
Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that the number of deaths from community-acquired pneumonia this year has almost doubled compared to last year. From January to October 2020, 1505 people died from the disease; for the same period in 2019 — 860 residents of Bashkiria.
Note that pneumonia is diagnosed by computed tomography of the chest and X-ray scan.
Due to the large flow of patients for CT examination, on behalf of the head of the region, the Ministry of Health of Bashkiria has tightened the indications for referring patients to computed tomography of the lungs. Now the doctor can send a patient for a CT scan of the chest organs only if they have a high temperature, a fever is observed for several days, the prescribed drug therapy is ineffective, and the level of saturation (blood oxygen saturation) is reduced. Also, tomography can be prescribed if the patient has chronic diseases.
