Spring Kurgazak is among top 30 attractions of Bashkiria
The healing mineral spring Kurgazak was included in the list of the most popular places in the republic as part of the "30 unique places of Bashkortostan" campaign, according to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".
The Kurgazak spring is located in the Salavatsky region in the Yangan-Tau geopark territory, which was the first in Russia to be included in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. It flows from the spurs of the Karatau mountain range. Local people use the water from the source not only for drinking but also for health promotion.
When scientists studied its water composition, Kurgazak began to be used as one of the natural healing means in the Yangan-Tau sanatorium.
The source is freely available not only for the sanatorium guests but also for everyone. The spring is located near the highway leading from Bashkiria to the Sverdlovsk region. It can be collected in a grotto near the waterfall or a special place for collecting water to drink on the road or bring home. Water rises from a depth of 600-800 meters along tectonic faults and gives out 100-125 liters per second.
Water temperature all year round is kept at around 16 degrees Celsius. The spring does not freeze even in winter, so everyone can plunge into the swimming pond at any time of the year.
The Kurgazak spring is a landmark of the republic and a hydrogeological natural monument of Bashkiria and is protected by the state.
