Volunteers collected 9.5 tons of garbage on Ufa River in capital of Bashkiria
Volunteers collected 9.5 tons of garbage as part of the Clean Banks marathon on the Ufa River banks in Bashkiria's capital. This is crucial since there are city water intakes on the river, the Ministry of Ecology noted. This year, about 400 volunteer clean-ups were held to clean up 1,900 km of banks from household waste and wood trash, in which more than 20 thousand people participated.
According to the Water Management Development Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, in Ufa, the discharge of wastewater into surface water bodies decreased from 156.7 million cubic meters in 2009 to 99.2 million cubic meters in 2018. "This is an indicator of the good work of the regional authorities. In turn, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia has allocated more than 2.5 billion rubles for eight years of the federal target program "Water of Russia" for the construction, reconstruction of engineering protection facilities, and coastal protection structures", informed the director of the Institution Ilya Razbash.
