Salavat Yulaev took second place in KHL Championship standings
HC Salavat Yulaev took second place in the Kontinental Hockey League championship standings after winning the home game against Vityaz (Moscow Region). Since the beginning of the season, the Ufa team has played 11 matches, where it had eight wins, including one in shootouts, and gained 16 points. The first place in the tournament table went to Avangard (Omsk), and the third — to Ak Bars (Kazan). The leaders of the past years — St. Petersburg SKA and Moscow CSKA are located on the 4th and 6th places, respectively. However, SKA hockey players had ten matches, while CSKA played only eight.
This season, the results of the games are significantly affected by the pandemic, due to which teams periodically lose top players and even head coaches. Thus, the Salavat Yulaev head coach Tony Lamsa and several foreign players were forced out of participation in the championship. Fortunately, this did not affect the team too much, which showed quite a confident game.
The next match will take place at the Ufa-Arena on September 30. Salavat Yulaev will compete against one of their principled and long-standing opponents — the Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist.
