Preparations for World Cleanup Day have started in Bashkiria
Preparations for the World Cleanup Day have begun in Bashkiria, the region's Ministry of Ecology informs.
As part of this day, it is planned to hold the All-Russian environmental clean-up "Green Russia", which will be attended by all regions of the country. During this large-scale eco-campaign, in honor of the Great Victory, trees will be planted in all regions of Russia in memory of those who died at the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
In Bashkiria, the campaign is planned to be held on September 19.
"This date was not chosen by chance, since it is on September 19 that the World Day of Cleanliness will be held all over the world, in which our republic will take part for the third year already."
Bashkiria traditionally leads in the number of participants in the "green" campaign — more than 130 thousand people annually.
World Cleanup Day is an annual social action program dedicated to fighting waste. The emphasis is on cleaning forests, clearings, river, and lake banks. Separate waste collection is organized where possible.
Besides, the participants hold educational events, talk about the modern system of waste management, separate collection, and recycling of waste, and promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
As a reminder, last year, over 150 thousand residents of Bashkiria took part in the World Cleanup Day campaign, having collected a total of about 25 thousand cubic meters of garbage.
