Athletes from Bashkiria Alexander Georgiev and Tamara Tansykkuzhina became the holders of the World Draughts Cup after a stage in Curacao.
This international tournament, held in a state in the south of the Caribbean, was attended by 62 players from 19 countries.
The ten-time world champion Alexander Georgiev won the four-time world champion Anatoly Gantvarg in the decisive round, and ultimately excelled in the Caribbean tournament and in the overall World Cup standings. The draught player from Ufa scored overall 622 points in the stages, ahead of 114 points of Jan Groenendijk from the Netherlands with 508 points.
