On November 15, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in the Russian Federation Hüseyin Diriöz. In Ufa he takes part in the 13th specialized exhibition "Hospitality and Travel Industry Forum".
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the industrial, trade-economic, scientific and cultural spheres.
Rustem Khamitov noted that our republic worked with Turkish companies in the fields of petrochemistry, machine building, agriculture, but at the same time stressed that the trade turnover with Turkey was very small, amounting to $ 233 million, with 97 percent of this amount being our export.
Rustem Khamitov thanked the Ambassador for the fact that during a congress of the International Beekeeping Associations Federation "Apimondia" the Turkish partners had organized a great work in support of the Bashkortostan’s candidacy for the right to hold the forum in 2021.
"Of course, we should develop relations in the cultural field. Our artists have performed in Turkey many times. In addition, in 2020, the World Folklore Festival will take place in Ufa, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, with participation of 70-80 countries. We are waiting for creative teams from Turkey," the head of the republic said.
In turn, Hüseyin Diriöz marked that Turkey set a high value on Russian-Turkish relations.
"One of the most important aspects of our relationship with Russia is interregional cooperation. We are interested in developing relations with each of the Russian entities. Our economic relations with the Republic of Bashkortostan are developing quite actively. There is a huge potential for their expansion. I think that Turkish business should express more interest in your republic. Therefore, we would like to hold some business meetings", stressed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Russian Federation.
He said that representatives of large Turkish companies were expected to visit Bashkortostan in early December.
"Today, sports and culture issues are very important — mutual cultural visits, concerts. The year of 2019 is declared a Russian- Turkish crossroads year of culture and tourism", said Hüseyin Diriöz.
Rustem Khamitov also stated that all these areas of cooperation should develop on an increasing basis.
