The National Journal of Apiculture in Italy "Apinsieme" devoted a large article to Bashkortostan. A photograph of the Bashkir beekeeper is placed on the cover of the May issue.
The journalist Francesco Colafemmin wrote an article entitled "Discovering beekeeping in Bashkortostan" in English and Italian. The article describes the beekeeping of Russia, a pristine nature of Bashkortostan, the Burzyan bee and the Shulgan-Tash nature reserve, the fast growing Ufa and the Russian bid campaign for the right to hold the 47th Congress of the International Federation of Apicultural Associations Apimondia. The hero of the publication is the 58-year-old pensioner Alexander Lytyagin, who lives in the republic and has been engaged in beekeeping for 17 years.
A particular attention is paid to the feature of Bashkortostan — wild-hive beekeeping. Francesco Colafemmin describes one day in life of the wild-hive beekeeper of the republic.
"We hope very much that in 2021 the whole international community of beekeepers will appreciate the magic of Bashkortostan as a place where it is possible to share experience and comprehend the true value of honey and a profession of a beekeeper", the journalist states.
"We are glad that the Italian magazine became interested in beekeeping of our region. This is especially important now, when the Apimondia secretariat accepted a bid of the National Union of Beekeepers of Russia to hold a congress in Ufa in 2021," said the Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan Ruslan Mirsayapov.
"Apinsieme" is the only independent beekeeping journal in Italy, which publishes interviews with scientists from the USA, Germany, Great Britain, France, Switzerland and beekeepers from all over the world.
