The abnormally low air temperatures established in the regions of the Volga Federal District and a part of the Urals and will last until the third decade of May. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Situation Centre of Roshydromet.

In the capital of Bashkortostan, a minimum record was broken on the night of May 15. At the same time in the northern part of the region it was even colder — to minus six. Meteorologists forecast a gradual increase in air temperature in the next three days.
Because of the frosty weather, in many regions of the Volga region the heating season continued or was resumed. The end of the season is postponed in Izhevsk because of the coming cold snap for at least a week, the press service of the "Udmurt Utility Systems" company informs. In Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan, the heat supply was resumed in social institutions. The heat supply was resumed in 80 percent of social institutions and at least in one third of the housing stock in the capital of the Volga region (92 percent of kindergartens and 89 percent of schools).
In Kazan, as of May 11, the heat supply to kindergartens, schools and hospitals was also re-started, even though the heating season ended on April 28. Ufa social institutions following their colleagues in neighbouring regions address to the city administration for heat supply resumption.
At a daily briefing in the Ufa mayor's office today it was noted that "over the past week there have been numerous appeals of citizens asking for heating". There is a mechanism for supplying heat to those houses where residents consider it necessary, but for some reason it does not work. The corresponding services of the city were instructed to investigate into the situation and draw conclusions.
