Russian Central Election Commission has identified candidates for new CEC of Bashkortostan

Candidates for appointment as members of the Central Election Commission of Bashkortostan with a casting vote were determined by the Central Election Commission of Russia. The CEC of Russia recommended the Head of the Republic to appoint the current Chairman, Khaidar Valeev, as a member of the regional commission of the new composition, and the State Assembly to appoint Marina Dolmatova, the secretary of the commission.
In Bashkortostan, a procedure for the formation of the regional Central Election Commission is underway. The new composition is elected in connection with the expiry of the term of office of the previous one in June 2017. In accordance with federal and regional election legislation, the new electoral commission will have 12 members with a casting vote.
Half of the members of the republican election commission are appointed by the State Assembly, the other half by the Head of Bashkortostan. At the same time, both the State Assembly and the Head of Bashkortostan must appoint at least one member of the election commission on the basis of the received proposals from the CEC of Russia. Proposals for candidates will be made till May 3.
The Central Election Commission of Bashkortostan consists of 12 members of the commission with the casting vote. Formation of the CEC RB is carried out by the State Assembly and the Head of the Republic on the basis of proposals received from political parties that nominated lists of candidates and admitted to the distribution of deputy mandates in the State Duma and the State Assembly of Bashkortostan, as well as proposals of representative bodies of municipalities, the previous composition of the Central Election Commission of the republic, the CEC of the Russian Federation.
