Ufa population exceeded 1,125,000 people

As of January 1, the population of the Bashkir capital amounted to 1,125,612 people. It is by 4183 or by 0.4 percent more than a year ago.
Currently Ufa is home to nearly 28 percent of the Bashkortostan population. Of the total urban population of the republic Ufa accounts for about 44 percent, it was reported at a daily briefing in the city administration.
According to the head of state statistics department in Ufa Oksana Dayanova except the Bashkir capital some population growth is observed also in the cities of Neftekamsk, Sterlitamak and Oktyabrsky.
Last year, for the first time in the last 29 years the highest birth rate was registered in Ufa. 18 165 children were born in the capital of the republic. The highest number of births occurred in Oktyabr, Kalinin and Kirov districts of the city. In 2016 it was almost reached a peak of births of 1980-s. Thus, in 1987, 18 767 children were born in Ufa.
Along with increase in the birth rate a tendency to mortality reduction is observed in Ufa. In 2016 this figure amounted to 12 668 people. Natural population growth, respectively, amounted to 5497 people.
Thus, the capital of Bashkortostan retains a leadership position among the megacities of Russia in natural population growth.
