A previously unknown fragment of rock images was discovered in the Shulgan-Tash Cave. It was a sensational new discovery, the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Bashkortostan informs. The head of the expedition, consultant for the preservation of art works of the UN, UNESCO and UNDP international institutions, the member of the Heritage Advisory Board of the Andorra Government Guillaume Anton Eudal expressed his assurance that the identified pigment was a part of a rock image.
The next, third stage of the Shulgan-Tash Cave cleaning from modern graffiti is completed. To date, significant accumulations of contemporary inscriptions made with charcoal and notches remained only in four halls. The next summer expedition will fully complete the planned cleaning activities.
The management of the Science Centre for Protection and Use of Cultural Heritage Objects of Bashkortostan holds talks on attracting professionals from Spain and France for an infrared-and 3D-scanning of the cave. Works are carried out in accordance with the action plan for study, preservation, promotion and inclusion of the "Rock Art of the Shulgan-Tash Cave" project in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
