Cycler died and journalist was injured during All-Russian cycling races in Ufa

In Ufa, during the All-Russian competitions in road cycling an elderly participant died and a journalist was injured. The accident occurred on Sunday morning during a group race on the descent to the Biathlon stadium. Allegedly, the 74-year-old cyclist suffered a heart attack. He drove into the crash barrier and fell on one of the two photographers standing behind the fence.
The victim was the 33-year-old editor of "Ufimskaya Nedeliya" newspaper, who told the Bashinform News Agency about the accident. The man was amputated a phalanx of the index finger of his right hand. The athlete died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.
The All-Russian competitions in road cycling among veterans and youth were held in Ufa on July 23-24, and were attended by athletes from 19 to 70 years or more.
