High birth rate is preserved due to women older than 30 years in Bashkortostan - Ministry of Health
UFA, 20 May 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/.
In Bashkortostan, high birth rate is preserved due to women older than 30 years. The head of the health care ministry Anvar Bakirov reported the results of the priority areas of health care at the parliamentary hearings in the State Assembly RB on May 20.
Over the past ten years, the birth rate in the region has steadily increased. From 2005 to 2015 the figure rose to 34 percent. Last year there was a deviation – a decline in birth rates by two percent was registered. The Minister believes that it is quite natural: mortality stabilized, fertility declined.
"There is a review of reproductive attitudes in favour of a large family model and delay in having children at a later period. If in 2012 the second childbirth was accounted for 38 percent of all births in the republic, than in 2014 it was 40 percent”, said Anvar Bakirov. “The growth in number of re-birth was achieved due to older women (over 30 years) — the birth rate has tripled in the last 15 years. Due to these factors the total birth rate remains high. It shows the number of children which an average woman will give birth during a lifetime. Let me remind that it should not be less than 2.2 for reproduction of the population".
Last year, the total birth rate reached 1,939 in the republic with an average of 1,777 in Russia.
He added that last year the republican population increased by more than five thousand people. In terms of natural increase and migration outflows a total loss of population was recorded.
Life expectancy is an indicator of the economic well-being of the region. In 2015, it exceeded the 70-year mark, but it only caught up with the 1990 level.
"It is not enough just to restore the Soviet figure. Our efforts are aimed at achieving the target of 74 years ", said the Minister.
