In Bashkortostan, number of citizens injured by tick bites is rapidly growing. According to Rospotrebnadzor RB, 3753 people seeking medical care due to bites of these insects were recorded as of May 19, including 1249 children. Last week this figure was 2496 people (812 children).
Cases of tick-borne encephalitis and tick-borne infectious borreliosis were not registered in the republic.
However, from 2756 ticks studied in laboratories of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology RB, 155 were infected with encephalitis. The causative agent of tick-borne borreliosis was found in 212 insects.
Experts advise to observe all safety precautions when camping or hiking — wear closed clothes and use special repellents. Tick bites are almost impossible to feel, so you should constantly inspect yourself in their presence. In case of detection doctors strongly recommend to seek medical care.
