On May 5, at the House of the Republic the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov met with the President of the Committee of the International Children's Games Torsten Rasch. They discussed the readiness of Ufa as a candidate to host the Summer International Children's Games in 2019.

“We need International Children's Games not for prestige or PR-campaign, but to promote sports and healthy lifestyle among the new generation. From this perspective, we are seriously considering a possibility of hosting the International Children's Games in Ufa in summer 2019”, Rustem Khamitov said.

Torsten Rasch noted that the 6th Winter International Children's Games, which were held in the capital of Bashkortostan in 2013, had been organized at a high level.

“Today it is not so easy to find a suitable candidate city, which is ready to host the International Children's Games. And we were surprised that you were ready to host the Summer Games, given that usually they have twice as much participants and there are many questions regarding the financial part. We are very pleased that we have such reliable partners as Ufa and all of you”, Torsten Rasch underlined.

The Committee's Secretary-General Richard Smith also attended the meeting. In Ufa, together with Torsten Rasch they examine sports and infrastructure facilities, which may be used for the competitions.

In July 2016, in New Taipei (Taiwan) in the framework of the jubilee 50th Summer International Children's Games a presentation of Ufa as a candidate for the 53 International Children's Games in 2019 will be held.

Previously, the capital of Bashkortostan hosted the 6th Winter International Children Games-2013. The competition was attended by teams from 60 cities of 20 countries. Athletes competed for 170 medals in seven sports: skiing, ice hockey, figure skating, short track, snowboarding, orienteering and cross-country skiing. According to the results of competitions the Ufa team took the first place in the total medal count with 16 awards.
