UFA, 26 April 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. On April 25, in Moscow the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov took part in the General Meeting of the Russian Federation Commission for UNESCO Affairs, which was held by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The head of the Foreign Ministry noted that the 38th session of the UNESCO General Conference gave a start of program activities to adapt the organization to the tasks of the Global Agenda for the period up to 2030.
“In May Bashkortostan will host the "Intercultural Dialogue in the Eurasian Space" International Conference in accordance with the order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to create a permanent platform for the cultural cooperation in Eurasia", Sergey Lavrov said. “Within its framework it is planned to discuss the intercultural interaction problems in the UNESCO's project "The Silk Road".
The Statute of the International Geoscience and Geoparks Program was also adopted at the 38th session of the General Conference. Thus, the global network of geoparks has become an integral part of the UNESCO's geological program.
“It is pleasant that the Russian regions express interest to this part of the UNESCO's activity,” underlined Sergey Lavrov. “For example Bashkortostan, already mentioned by me is preparing an application for the development of the first in our country pilot project on the geopark creation.”
Participants of the meeting marked our republic as one of the most active areas involved in the programs of the organization, strengthening cooperation between Russia and UNESCO.
