UFA, 19 February 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. While visiting the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov the Ufa resident Victoria Valikova told him about her idea to establish a clinic for the Maya in Guatemala as part of the "Clinic on the Far Side of the World" project.
The infectious disease physician and tropicologist, she in different years worked in Guatemala, Honduras, Haiti, and now works at Ufa Infectious Clinical Hospital No. 4. According to her, having constructed a clinic "we will show by our example that Russia is capable of helping less developed countries".
It is assumed that three people will work at the clinic in shifts on a voluntary basis. Preliminary volume of expenses for creation of clinics will make nearly 3.5 million rubles, including 700 thousand rubles for construction of the building, 500 thousand rubles — for purchase of medical transport, 1.5 million rubles — for purchase of equipment, as well as 700 thousand rubles per year — for drugs and supplies. Currently, more than 1.1 million rubles are raised due to crowdfunding.
Rustem Khamitov has instructed his Administration to work out an issue of information support of the project.
“You are an unusual person. We do not have many such brave doctors. Maybe you are even one in the whole republic,” said the Head of the Region. “I want to help you. You do good, noble work.”
