Police inspector will pay 1 million rubles of fine and will serve in prison for bribe in Ufa
UFA, 27 January 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Arthur Basyrov/.
In Ufa, the Bashkortostan Supreme Court upheld a verdict of the former traffic police inspector found guilty of taking bribes. Earlier, the Oktyabrsky District Court of the capital of the republic sentenced him to three and a half years of imprisonment in a penal colony and deprived of the rank of lieutenant of police. In addition, he will have to pay a fine of 1 million rubles.
According to the Prosecutor's Office of the republic, in November 2013 in Ufa the inspector stopped the Suzuki car. The driver turned out to be drunk. Instead of making a protocol the police officer offered the car owner to avoid administrative responsibility for 30 thousand rubles. The offender agreed, and drove away in his car ostensibly to withdraw the necessary sum from his credit card. In fact, he told the police about the extortion. Upon receipt of 25 thousand rubles the traffic police officer was arrested.
The Supreme Court of the Republic overruled the appeal of the convicted person and upheld the conviction.
