UFA, 14 January 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. Ufa juniors won their first victories at the 7th International Children's Winter Games in Austria. The gold medal in the first day of the competition was won by Almaz Valiev (biathlon), who was ahead of over 20 athletes in a sprint race. Another Ufa native Danis Zubairov finished the fifth. Among girls Alexandra Fedorova was the best athlete from Ufa with the sixth result.
Cyril Ped’ became a silver medalist in snowboard cross. In the final races he lost to the athlete from Australia James Whitfield.
Among girls in this discipline a bronze medal was won by Jana Valieva, having yielded to athletes from Poland and Austria. Margarita Aznabaeva was the fifth on the results of the final competitions.
Artemy Ismagilov was the best among Ufa representatives in giant slalom (the sixth place) followed by — Alexander Galiakbarov (the eighth place). Among the girls — Tatiana Grishina took the 25th place, Elizabeth Vorobyova – the 37th.
The Bashkir capital in the current Games held in the Austrian city of Innsbruck is represented by 16 athletes aged 12-14. They compete in four sports – alpine skiing, snowboarding, speed skating and biathlon.
