Rustem Khamitov has taken part in a literary marathon "War and Peace. Reading the Novel"

The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov has taken part in a literary marathon of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "War and Peace. Reading the Novel". As part of the project the leader of the republic read an extract selected by himself from the third part of the second volume of the novel by Leo Tolstoy dedicated to the public service.
The "War and Peace. Reading the Novel" project completes the Year of Literature and is devoted to the 150th anniversary of the first publication of the book. From December 8 to 11, on the air of TV channel "Russia Culture", radio station "Mayak", as well as on the Internet a live broadcast of the book reading is conducted. It was received 5372 applications from different countries and cities for participation in the literary marathon. The editors selected more than 1 300 people to read the novel. Among them there are actors, directors, TV and radio presenters, politicians, athletes, scientists, public figures, people of different professions and ages. They include 16 representatives of the Republic of Bashkortostan. According to the organizers, such large-scale marathon should revive interest in the great work of the Russian classic.
