Egypt is ready to replace Turkey on exports of fruit and vegetables, clothing and leather products. This was stated by the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil, TASS reports referring to the Al-Watan newspaper.
"Russian imports of vegetables and fruit from Turkey amounted to 66%, followed by clothing and leather goods", he said. "Egypt has a great potential in production and supply of these products".
Tarek Qabil has already made a proposal to the Minister of Industry and Trade RF Denis Manturov "after the introduction of restrictions on Ankara to fully meet the needs of Moscow in products, which were previously supplied from Turkey". He urged the Russian side to provide Cairo with a list of products forming the basis of the Turkish imports to work out the issue with manufacturers. In the future, the Egyptian side is planning to export these products to Russia.
As Bashinform Agency has already reported, the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on economic sanctions against Turkey. In accordance with the document in our country foreign economic operations involving the import of certain types of Turkish goods are temporarily banned or limited. The list is determined by the Government of Russia. An exception is made for goods imported for personal use to the extent permitted by law of the Eurasian Economic Union.
