UFA, 27 November 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Olesya Seregina/. The JSC "Ufa Engine Industrial Association" - UMPO (part of "UEC", Rostec State Corporation) is preparing to launch the Europe's largest melting blade casting unit. Dimensions of the equipment are 9m in width, 12m — in length and 8.5m in height. It is reported by the press service of UMPO.
The unit is designed for manufacture of blanks of engine parts for the prospective civilian aircraft MS-21. The new equipment allows melting from 20 to 150 kg of a special alloy. This makes it possible to fill a large number of blades for only one cycle.
It is noted that the new unit will be involved in a joint project of UMPO and the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys on developing and implementing resource-efficient production technology of hollow cast turbine blades. It will be used in production of not only the aircraft gas turbine engines, but in production of oil and gas pumping stations.
In early November, the project won a grant in the contest of the Ministry of Education of Russia. The grant will help UMPO to reduce the terms of the innovation implementation in pilot and full-scale production.
