Pensioners from Bashkiria will compete for the title of advanced Internet user in Kazan

Fatima Altynbekova from Uchaly and Irina Nureyeva from Kaltasy region represent Bashkortostan at the 5th All-Russian computer championship among senior citizens, which starts today, August 24, in Kazan. The match is organized by the Union of Pensioners of Russia.
As the press service of the republican Ministry of Labour informs, Bashkortostan participants are the winners of the regional stage of similar events. The competition involves more than 150 seniors from 70 regions of Russia. The current championship is attended by representatives of Crimea, Sevastopol, Kaliningrad and Sakhalin regions, as well as Abkhazia, Belarus, Belgium, Poland, Slovenia and Finland. Within two days, they will compete for the title of the most advanced users of information technology.
The participants will demonstrate their ability to use the portal of public services, skills in working with text applications, search engines, presentations. Beginners and advanced users will demonstrate their computer abilities. The special nomination — the prize of "Kaspersky Lab" is provided for advanced participants.
The main objectives of the computer championship are involving pensioners into mastering computer technologies, improvement of public services availability through the Internet, as well as development of senior people training.
According to VTCIOM survey, 20% of Russians aged over 55 use the Internet from time to time, and only 8% — permanently.
