Aerospace Russian Forces went on combat duty

A new kind of Armed Forces RF — Aerospace Forces – went on combat duty of aerospace defence. It is reported by the Ministry of Defence RF. Viktor Bondarev is appointed the Commander of Aerospace Forces. The Aerospace Forces consist of three service arms: Air Forces, Air-Missile Defence and the Space Troops.
The duty shift of the Control Centre of the new Armed Forces started to provide centralized management of combat duty forces and means of air, missile and air defence, launch and control of spacecraft of Russian orbital missile warning system and space control on August 1.
The Aerospace Forces are formed on the basis of units and formations of Air Forces and Aerospace Defence Forces.
Creating a new branch of the Armed Forces is dictated by objective necessity to unite under a single command all the forces and means responsible for the Russia's air space security.
The system of command and control of aircraft and air defence of military districts remains unchanged. The general command of air and space defence will continue to be performed by the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, and direct command by the Major Military Command of Air and Space Forces.
