Rustem Khamitov: "Preserving antiquity, preserving elements of maybe bygone urban culture is important to us"
UFA, 2 July 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Sergey Zakharov/.
Rustem Khamitov met with the presenter of "Russia-Culture" TV channel Vladislav Flyarkovsky. In Ufa the presenter has launched a regional broadcasting channel, which resumed broadcasting on behalf of the Head of the Republic.
The conversation took place in the foyer of the State Concert Hall "Bashkortostan", which opened in December 2014.
Talking about the aesthetics of the Concert Hall building Rustem Khamitov noted that "we have deliberately retained a significant part of the architectural elements of the Soviet era design in the arrangement of public spaces. And we have obtained quite good results. We were able to "revive" the old walls, to give them a modern look".
"Preserving antiquity, preserving elements of maybe bygone urban culture is important to us. If you walk around the streets of Ufa (and we still have old houses of merchant in cities of Birsk, Sterlitamak), you will see a lot of houses of late 19th — early 20th centuries. We try to preserve them. Of course, sometimes it's hard to do, but it is the case that from the old, dilapidated appearance, you can grow new cultural elements: nice, popular, necessary for people. Now we carry out such a policy", the Head of Bashkortostan said.
