Bashkir policemen as part of the Russian team participated in the 16th World Police and Fire Games. It is the biggest international sports forum after the Olympic Games and the Universiade. Competitions are held in Fairfax, Virginia, at Robert F. Kennedy Stadium.
The Russian team consists of 265 athletes from the Interior Ministry, Emergencies Ministry, the Drug Control Service and Penitentiary Service. The Russians compete in 17 disciplines.
The judokas of Bashkir police took their places on the podium in all weight categories. The gold medals were won by junior police sergeant Dmitry Tuco, police major Rustem Arslanov and police captain Ilya Shmakov.
About 12 thousand police officers and firefighters from 70 countries take part in the Games. They compete in 61 sports, including non-Olympic disciplines — lacrosse, paintball, billiards and "three for three" basketball. Professional disciplines are also provided, such as combat shooting and service dog breeding.
