Rustem Khamitov took part in Volga Federal District meeting on combating terrorism and extremism

On June 25, in Samara the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov attended a meeting of the Council under the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District, dedicated to the issues of national security in the field of combating terrorism and extremism under current conditions. It was attended by regional leaders, deputies of the State Duma and the Federation Council of Russia, representatives of law enforcement bodies.
The results of anti-terrorist commissions’ activity in the regions of the Volga Federal District and the progress of the strategy to combat extremism in the Russian Federation until 2025 were discussed at the meeting.
The Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich marked significance of the points at issue. According to him, the realities of our time require maximum consolidation of efforts in counteracting terrorism both from the government and from civil society institutions. The Comprehensive Plan on counteracting terrorist ideology in Russia for 2013-2018 approved by the President of Russia became a key element in this activity.
Over the past two years an effective system of terrorism prevention was organized in the district together with the National Anti-Terrorist Committee, the FSB, the General Prosecutor's Office, Interior Ministry and Defense Ministry of Russia. On June 16, in Moscow at the meeting of NAC and the Federal Operational Headquarters the practices of the Volga Federal District in the fight against terrorism received a positive assessment.
Mikhail Babich stressed the importance of anti-terrorist commissions work at the municipal level. Among the priority tasks of the commissions he named prevention of extremism and terrorism, including in the information space, and ensuring security of infrastructure and crowded places.
The fight against extremism was also discussed at the meeting. It was noted that counteracting extremism, prevention of separatism, ethnic hatred and intolerance is one of the key tasks of ensuring national security in the Volga Federal District.
