UFA, 16 June 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Iliya Spiridonov/. On June 15, in the House of the Republic the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov met with Andrey Kozitsyn, the CEO of the "Ural Mining Metallurgical Company" holding ("UMMC-Holding" LLC). The parties discussed prospects for the mining enterprises of Bashkortostan included in the group of UMMC.
During the meeting a "road map" was signed to promote the use of high-tech products of the republican companies at UMMC enterprises. The document provides for improving the efficiency and transparency of Bashkortostan participation in the procedures of products and services procurement for the holding companies. This work is conducted within the framework of attracting domestic producers to the import substitution program and development of new high-tech manufacturing equipment.
Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company is the second largest copper producer in the Russian Federation. It was created in October 1999. The UMMC includes about 50 enterprises of different industries. Key assets of the holding company are concentrated in the mining industry, ferrous metallurgy and machine building. Copper products provide the basis of sales. The company is also engaged in zinc, lead and precious and rare earth metals sales. 25 percent of the Russian market of rolled non-ferrous metals, more than 50 percent of the European market of copper powders, about 60-70 percent of Russian coal exports to Western and Eastern Europe are accounted for UMMC.
In Bashkortostan four large enterprises belonging to the UMMC group are operating — JSC "Uchalinsky Mining and Processing Complex", JSC "Sibay Mining and Processing Complex", LLC "Bashkir Copper", JSC "Buribaevsky Mining and Processing Complex ". The total number of employees of these enterprises is 9.1 thousand people.
